She attained a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Florida, a Master of Public Health from the University of South Florida, and a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University.

Upon completion of medical school, she moved to Dayton, Ohio on active duty with the Air Force. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at a joint program through Wright State University and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

After her residency, she stayed at Wright-Patterson as an academic attending physician. Upon fulfillment of her active duty service commitment, she worked as an academic ObGyn at Wright State University. Dr. Thompson relocated from the Dayton area in 2014 and began work in an urban non-profit setting. She currently works in private practice.

Dr. Thompson credits her work as an ObGyn as a primary reason for her conversion to a pro-life stance. She is grateful to care for women in all stages of life and for children in the womb.

She is happily married to Dr. Greg Thompson, a radiation oncologist. They have six children, ages newborn to 13.
