Another Emergency at the Kettering Abortion Facility

Please see this October 25, 2023 update from Dayton Right to Life:

Every couple of months there is an emergency at the Kettering abortion center that requires an ambulance and admission into a nearby hospital. In addition, there are even more calls to 911 from women who have emergency complications when taking the abortion pill at home.

Issue 1 will supersede the Ambulatory Surgical Facility (ASF) regulations that currently exist to protect women that have these emergencies during an abortion- eliminating hospital transfer agreements, physician requirements, and many other regulations created to ensure women’s safety. Issue 1 will also increase the number of “self abortions” by women at home, without the presence of any medical personnel, which can only result in even more 911 calls from frantic women from their homes.

Here is just one recent example of a 911 call from the Kettering Abortion Center- listen to the actual 911 call from October 25th HERE. This is not made up, these calls happen regularly from abortion facilities around Ohio.

What will happen if Issue 1 eliminates health and safety protections for women? Read the press release on the latest call HERE.

We need to continue protecting women with oversight from the Ohio Department of Health and keep these facilities as Ambulatory Surgical Facilities. Vote NO ON ISSUE 1.

According to the Elliot Institute, “approximately 10% of women undergoing elective abortion will suffer immediate complications (approximately 2,000 in Ohio), of which approximately one-fifth (2%) are considered life threatening. The nine most common major complications which can occur at the time of an abortion are:

  • infection,
  • excessive bleeding,
  • embolism,
  • ripping or perforation of the uterus,
  • anesthesia complications,
  • convulsions,
  • hemorrhage,
  • cervical injury, and
  • endotoxic shock.

“The most common ‘minor’ complications include:

  • infection,
  • bleeding,
  • fever,
  • second degree burns,
  • chronic abdominal pain,
  • vomiting,
  • gastro-intestinal disturbances, and
  • Rh sensitization.
