COLUMBUS, Ohio— Today, Ohio Right to Life released a statement in response to pro-life Senator Steve Huffman introducing legislation to recognize June 24th every year as “Life Day,” in celebration and recognition of the United States Supreme Court overturning the decision of Roe v Wade and Planned Parenthood v Casey this past Friday.
On Friday, June 24th, the United States Supreme Court ruled in the majority opinion in Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization that there is no constitutional right to an abortion and that Roe and Casey must be overruled. This landmark decision returns the issue of abortion back to the individual states and the people to decide, not the courts.
The following statement can be attributed to Ohio Right to Life Executive Director, Peter Range:
“Ohio Right to Life is grateful to pro-life Senator Steve Huffman for introducing the legislation to establish “Life Day” in Ohio. It is one more step in recognizing the dignity and value of human life in our state. Human life is precious at every stage of development, including in the womb. The Supreme Court ruling from Dobbs which overturned Roe v. Wade is a day to celebrate as individuals in each state, including Ohio, will now have a personal say on abortion policy. I am confident “Life Day” will be remembered in Ohio as a day where the pre-born were given a voice in the public square and Ohio was awakened to the reality of their humanity.”
Founded in 1967, Ohio Right to Life, with more than 35 chapters and local affiliates, is Ohio’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization.
