COLUMBUS, Ohio– Yesterday, the Ohio Senate passed a historically pro-life and pro-family biennial operating budget which included $6 million for the Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Program that provides funding for pregnancy centers. Additionally, amendments which protect parents’ conscience rights and strengthened requirements for doctors who are listed as back-up physicians were also included in the budget.
The following statement may be attributed to Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life:
Thanks to Ohio’s continued funding of the Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Support Program, 6 million dollars have been allocated to help support low-income women and their children through Ohio’s pregnancy centers. This life-saving program is a victory for moms and babies in need across Ohio!
Planned Parenthood’s dangerous and explicit sex ed has no place in our schools. Kids deserve education that is appropriate and in alignment with our values. Parents deserve the ability to protect their kids from organizations like Planned Parenthood whose curriculum is tainted with an agenda that puts kid’s health and wellbeing at risk.
Strengthening Ohio’s current requirements for ambulatory surgical facilities’ back-up physicians will help improve patient safety and women’s health. Additionally, this vital pro-life provision will ensure that taxpayer funded institutions aren’t involved in the business of abortion. It is imperative that the conscience rights of all Ohioans are protected in law.
Thank you to pro-life champions Senator Steve Huffman and Senator Terry Johnson for their strong, pro-life leadership.
