This Week’s Pro-Life Update!

In the midst of these challenging times, the fight for life persists! As the battle for life continues, we at Ohio Right to Life have been hard at work, tirelessly advocating for the protection of the most vulnerable in our society. Check out this week’s Pro-Life Update!

Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Upholds Texas’s Dismemberment Abortion Ban

On Wednesday, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a Texas law that banned abortions committed by dismemberment. Dismemberment, or “D & E” abortions are brutal procedures in which an unborn child is torn limb from limb and their broken body parts are pulled from their mother’s womb piece by piece. To watch a medically accurate and non-graphic video of the procedure, click here.

The legal success of Texas’s Dismemberment Abortion ban represents a monumental victory for the pro-life movement. The Fifth Circuit’s decision proves that pre-viability abortion bans can withstand challenges on the federal level, a concept which strikes directly at the heart of Roe v. Wade. In 2018, Ohio’s Dismemberment Abortion Ban, championed by Ohio Right to Life, was signed into law but then blocked by activist judge Michael Barrett in 2019. It is our sincere hope that the Fifth Circuit’s ruling will open the door for brutal dismemberment abortions to be banned not just in Texas, but across the nation.

Funeral to be Held for Unborn Child Whose Body was Found in Dumpster

In June, the broken body of an unborn child, estimated to be around 17 weeks gestation, was found discarded in the dumpster behind Northeast Ohio Women’s Center, an abortion facility in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The child appeared to have been a victim of a brutal dismemberment abortion. Right to Life of Northeast Ohio along with Ohio Right to Life and Citizens for a Pro-life Society brought this heartbreaking situation to light during a joint press conference last month and have since been working to hold this abortion facility accountable for their calloused and inhuman actions.

Formal complaints have been filed with the Ohio EPA, HHS, and numerous other governmental agencies and Ohio Right to Life has been in contact with state officials to see that justice is served. We will continue to keep Pro-Life Ohio updated as the process continues to move forward.

In the meantime, it is important to give this child the dignity in death that he or she never received in life. Our hearts are broken by the cruel end this child was subjected to as a completely helpless victim of abortion. We must bury this child. Right to Life of Northeast Ohio, Ohio Right to Life’s Akron-area affiliate, will be holding a funeral for this child on Saturday, September 25th.
