BREAKING: Protect Women Ohio Launches Five Million Dollar Ad Campaign To Defeat Extreme Abortion Amendment

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Today, Ohio Right to Life announced their position as a founding member of the newly formed coalition group, Protect Women Ohio (PWO). The coalition is made up of numerous statewide organizations, including Center for Christian Virtue and Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio.

Protect Women Ohio will lead the charge against the radical abortion ballot initiative that could be on the ballot this November. The ballot initiative would remove all abortion restrictions, including parental rights and health and safety standards. PWO launched a multi-million-dollar television and digital ad campaign statewide today and will spend $5 million on advertising in the state over the next four weeks for this first phase of its effort to defeat the amendment.

“Moms and dads will be cut out of the most important and life-altering decisions of their child’s life, if this passes,” said Molly Smith, Board Member, Protect Women Ohio. “This extreme amendment eliminates any current or future protections for minors requiring parents be notified and consent before their child undergoes a procedure like an abortion or sex change surgery. Ohioans must vote ‘no’ on this dangerous proposal.”

Smith explained the amendment language clearly prohibits any law that “directly or indirectly” would “burden” or “interfere” with any “reproductive decisions.” Those are specific legal terms which have been interpreted by courts across the country to strike down parental notification and consent laws.
