Second Hearing on the Heartbeat Bill
On Tuesday, the Heartbeat Bill had its second hearing in the Ohio Senate Health, Human Services, and Medicaid Committee. Over 20 people testified in favor of the Heartbeat Bill, including five doctors and multiple nurses. We also had several women who had abortions themselves and wanted to speak out about their experiences.
Our director of legislative affairs, Jessica Warner, testified on behalf of Ohio Right to Life, our board and our 45 grassroots affiliates. We were thrilled to be joined by Dr. Kathi Aultman, a former abortionist and OB/GYN who is a fellow with the pro-life Charlotte Lozier Institute. She testified strongly to the importance of the Heartbeat Bill. She said:
“It wasn’t until after I had my first child, that I regretted my own abortion. I wish there had been a heartbeat bill back then or that it had not been so terribly easy to get an abortion.”
So many people came together on behalf of life and the Heartbeat Bill, and it was incredible. If you’d like to watch the hearing, click here. If you’d like to attend the next hearing, it will be held this coming Tuesday, February 26 at 9:30am in the South Hearing Room. If you want more details about that hearing and future hearings, please respond to this email.
We will continue to work tirelessly to promote and advocate for pro-life legislation in Ohio. We can’t do it without your help and support! We are encouraged to report that our legislation is moving quickly and we are going to see some major movement in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned!
With you for Life,
