Sen. Portman joins Ohio Right to Life for pro-life round table
Yesterday, Ohio Right to Life and pro-life Senator Rob Portman hosted a round table with other pro-life community leaders to discuss pro-life legislation in D.C. and how we can continue to protect and promote the dignity of all human life.
The critical priority on our agenda was the de-funding of Planned Parenthood, which performs about a third of the country’s abortions every year. Just a few days ago, the abortion corporation released its Annual Report, which showed an increase in abortions and government funding in FY2015-2016. The report also showed a 46 percent decrease in prenatal care, as well as declines in cancer screenings, breast exams, contraception, and pregnancy tests.
Senator Portman assured us of his commitment to de-funding Planned Parenthood through the American Health Care Act which is now before the Senate.
Other topics of conversation included how to ensure proper health care for the vulnerable, especially as Ohio faces an opiate crisis that is affecting pregnant mothers and their unborn babies. Our community leaders, who have medical, social work, advocacy, and pregnancy help center backgrounds, encouraged Senator Portman in his consideration of the dignity of the human person, born and unborn.
Ohio Right to Life thanks all community leaders who joined us for this important discussion on how we can continue to protect human life here in Ohio and beyond! You can join the conversation by signing our petition to de-fund Planned Parenthood today.
