Happy Valentine’s Day 💜
Happy Valentine’s Day! Today is a day devoted to love- and to the hope that it brings even in the darkest times. While thinking about love and what it means to be a pro-life advocate, some of the most famous words ever written about love come to mind. They are in the Bible, in the book of 1 Corinthians:
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
-1 Corinthians 13:7 (ESV)
As pro-life advocates, we give so much of ourselves for the love of the innocent unborn and women in crisis. We bear the burdens only ones who love do. We carry the gravity of abortion in our hearts every day. The understanding that 62 million precious children have been lost to the violence of abortion weighs down on us. The idea that countless women have been changed forever by the profound pain of abortion lingers in our minds. The knowledge of these tragedies helps us fight harder to end abortion, but it is not an easy thing to live with. Our love is a costly one. But, fellow advocates, please know it is not one without hope.
Love is the only hope for our broken world. Perfect, self-sacrificing Love that remains undaunted in the face of unimaginable pain and heartache. Love that gives everything of itself for those who have no advocate, no voice and no hope of Life. Another famous passage about love now comes to mind:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
-John 3:16 (ESV)
Dear friends, we have been shown perfect Love. That Love is what will sustain us. That Love will bear our burdens as we fight for the rights of women and children who have been left scared, alone and without hope. That Love will give us hope for a future where no woman is ever victimized by abortion and no child’s life is tragically taken by it.
We are going to end abortion. And it is our Love that will do it.
