What we saw at the 2017 March for Life
Every year at the March for Life, there is an undeniable energy that pulses through the hundreds of thousands of pro-life Americans who converge on Washington D.C. It is a combination of faith, hope and love that stirs the hearts of pro-life Americans to do this every year for more than 40 years.
In spite of the darkness, in spite of death, pro-lifers bring their loving energy to our nation’s capital in the hope that this year, maybe something will change.
That loving energy was palpable to the number of reporters we worked with to encourage coverage of this year’s March. The Columbus Dispatch’s front page on Sunday morning read, “March for Life: ‘It feels like a celebration.'”
With a new President who has already taken pro-life action in the first week of his administration and with a Vice President who made history by addressing the March for Life, pro-lifers indeed have reason to celebrate!
“Life is winning in America,” Vice President Mike Pence told a cheering crowd at the March for Life Rally. “And today is a celebration of the progress that we have made in the cause.”
During our time in Washington, the Ohio Right to Life team met with several of our pro-life Congressmen and secured their pledge to de-fund Planned Parenthood. We marched with Senator Rob Portman and countless other pro-life Ohioans who carried our “Ohio Stands for Life” signs, sending a vision of a unified pro-life Ohio to the national media. Images of our friends at Darke County Right to Life even appeared on Fox News!

Every year, the March for Life leaves us with the obligation to keep marching forward until the day we no longer have to march. Ultimately, we know that our celebration will be truest when abortion is ended in America.
