Telemedicine Abortion Ban Letter
I’m writing to urge you to support the Telemedicine Abortion Ban.
This bill would prohibit the use of telemedicine for the purpose of providing abortion-inducing drugs. According to a Reuters article, “since the telemedicine program began in Iowa in 2008, medication abortions increased to 64 percent of all pregnancy terminations, the highest U.S. rate.”
This is a dangerous practice of providing a risky medication to a woman without the physician actually being present. This legislation has already been enacted in nineteen other states, proving that it has widespread support.
I urge you to support the passage of this legislation to ensure that abortion-inducing drugs can only be prescribed after an in-person examination by the prescribing physician.
